Those interested in culture don't just visit the famous pilgrimage church but can also delve into valuable cultural assets in two museums. Besides the local museum in Mariasteinerhof, the castle museum in particular is worth a visit.

Mariastein local museum:Opening times

It is possible to visit our local museum every Wednesday between 8.00 and 9.00 p.m. when we will be happy to show and explain the individual objects to you during a tour.

The hotel's own museum, which is really worth seeing, tells you about the life, customs and traditions of Tyrolean farmers. All the objects have been collected and preserved with love by your hosts to familiarise you with a real piece of Tyrolean history.

Mariastein's castle museum

Opening times: all year round from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., subject to different opening times on public holidays

Admission: free

Mariastein Castle towers on a rock right next to the Mariasteinerhof. The castle museum there houses various magnificent exhibits from Austria's past, including sacred objects made out of gold and silver, pilgrimage icons, musical instruments and door knockers symbolising the right for asylum. The museum's most important pieces are the Tyrolean state insignia with the arch-ducal hat and sceptre, donated by Sovereign Maximilian around 1600.

Guided tours are offered on request.
